    Get PDF
Abstract We report experience of managing Choledochal Cyst (CC) in different paediatric ages. Eleven neonates and infants (aged 0-8 months) and 24 paediatric cases (aged 2.5 - 18 years) were managed over 24 years (1988 to 2012). Neonates and infants presented with jaundice, acholic stools and abdominal mass whereas most of the paediatric cases presented with intermittent non-specific abdominal pain. Morphology of CC was mostly cystic in neonates whereas it was fusiform in majority (62%) of paediatric cases. Biliary amylase was high and correlated with the presence of abnormal pancreaticobiliary junction (PBJ) in 20 /24 paediatric patients. Obstruction at the lower end of bile duct, liver fibrosis and cirrhosis were common in neonates. In conclusion, CC in newborns and infants is different and mimic correctable Biliary Atresia (BA). Early excision of CC and biliary reconstruction is promising in neonates, infants and children and it can be performed with minimal morbidity

Perinatal arterial ischaemic stroke: an update with literature review

    Get PDF
Perinatal arterial ischaemic strokes are a major cause of morbidity in the neonatal period and leads to significant neurological morbidity. It is however under recognized as an entity and usually missed till the baby is 3-4 months of age when they first present with hemiplegia. Perinatal arterial ischaemic strokes are not reported from our country and this may be due to the fact that neurodiagnostic modalities were not available until the last few years. Even now this is not available in the smaller cities of our country. In this review we will discuss the common issues related to etiology and pathogenesis in perinatal arterial ischaemic stroke. The management and the prognosis are also reviewed especially discussing the factors that affect the long term prognosis

The competition among corporates to become market leader is not only with in economy but also it is global and it effects the organizations in a positive or in a negative way as well in such a challenging and rapid environment Merger & Acquisition (M&A) is one of the best ways to enhance the capital, customers, and profitability. This paper is based on the CAMEL (Capital Adequacy, Asset Quality, Management Soundness, Efficiency and Liquidity Ratios) framework. Overall, twenty-five ratios before and after merger included on nine year pre and nine-year post were collected/ calculated and analyzed with SPSS and E-Views. Paired Sample T test were calculated and analyzed with the use of SPSS and structural break down test with the use of E-Views. The research after testing and analysis with software conclude that banks in long run shows significant difference in Capital adequacy ratios and Asset Quality and shows better Capital Adequacy and Asset Quality Ratios after merger among the five ratios tested

Point of Time and Effectiveness of Cause-Related Marketing: Strike While the Iron is Hot

    Get PDF
“Cause” is the word of positive-valence stimuli and increasing the like-hood intend to be a pair with it. Linking of consumer purchase with social cause is common and in rising trend. It’s a favorable tool of an organization to engage consumer and make his emotional attachment in charitable cause and increase sales volume. Previous Cause Related Marketing (CrM) literature has examined the CrM in term of consumer or in term of brand or purchase, we could not find any study which is investigating the mediating role of specific time between CrM and attitudes of consumers towards brand, ad, offer and cause involvement. Present study examines the best use of CrM according to time in beverages industry on soft drink on a holy occasion of Muslims (i.e. Ramazan). An already established questioner was used for collection of data. Mall intercept convenience technique is use to gather data. It’s a multiple group analysis study, data was collected two times, once during event and once after the event, sample size was remain same both times. Morgan’s formula is used to select the size of samples. Results of study show that CrM has influence on customer attitude which was being measured in three types, furthermore these attitudes has positively influence individual’s intention to buy a specific brand in a specific time period. This study will be provided a best use of CrM campaign according to time. Research will also direct the marketers to use of CrM on a specific time to tackle their customer’s attitude

To find out the average length of stay, the rate of I/V catheter cellulites, the rate of bed sores among patients in stroke centre and determine the mortality rates. Methodology: This is a descriptive study, carried out at a tertiary care hospital over the period of six months. Data was analyzed by SPSS version 15.0. Result: Total numbers of patients were 36 from January 1 to June 30, 2007 at Stroke Center Liaquat National Hospital. The mean length of stay was 8.17 ±5.81 days. Patients had cellulitis (intravenous) 97.2%, only 2.8% of patients did not develop. The rate of bed sore was 41.7%. Conclusion: By effective implementation of the Management Information System (MIS) in health care delivery system we can find patients clinical issues and can reduce their length of stay

The demand for more workers in tech related fields has given students the opportunity of choosing between multiple job offers and students can now be more deliberate about the jobs that they accept. Because of this employers also need to set themselves apart from other companies. Many companies do this is by sending out brochures, PDFs, and other information that may be outdated by the time it goes out. Our solution to this problem was to make an application which would provide relevant data to the user as well as provide insight into the company. The end result is a beautiful, well-made app which allows users to experience Charlottesville through the eyes of WillowTree. Constraints we faced were limited access to photos for use in the applications due to copyright issues as well as keeping consideration of easily maintainable and malleable data. We started with basic information provided to us by WillowTree then worked with them to establish goals and expectations. The end result is a mobile application which can be downloaded through the Apple App Store by anyone new to WillowTree and Charlottesville. Remaining issues are that the app is completely one-sided and does not currently collect data from the user. If this were possible then user data could be passed along to recruiters. Overall, this app will prove to be an invaluable recruiting tool for WillowTree and set WillowTree apart from other employers.https://scholarscompass.vcu.edu/capstone/1091/thumbnail.jp

Multiple Route Generation Using Simulated Niche Based Particle Swarm Optimization

    Get PDF
This research presents an optimization technique for multiple routes generation using simulated niche based particle swarm optimization for dynamic online route planning, optimization of the routes and proved to be an effective technique. It effectively deals with route planning in dynamic and unknown environments cluttered with obstacles and objects. A simulated niche based particle swarm optimization (SN-PSO) is proposed using modified particle swarm optimization algorithm for dealing with online route planning and is tested for randomly generated environments, obstacle ratio, grid sizes, and complex environments. The conventional techniques perform well in simple and less cluttered environments while their performance degrades with large and complex environments. The SN-PSO generates and optimizes multiple routes in complex and large environments with constraints. The traditional route optimization techniques focus on good solutions only and do not exploit the solution space completely. The SN-PSO is proved to be an efficient technique for providing safe, short, and feasible routes under dynamic constraints. The efficiency of the SN-PSO is tested in a mine field simulation with different environment configurations and successfully generates multiple feasible routes
